Fortnite Treasure Hunters: Fastest Way to Unlock the Pirate Token Shop

The Treasure Hunters mini-season in Fortnite comes with a Pirate Shop full of premium items that normally cost V-Bucks but are free for a limited time. Access depends on getting into the Pirate Token Shop first, and the only way in is opening regular chests. Choosing where you drop, which Sprite you equip, and who you queue with can all speed that up.

Open chests, and pick the right place to do it

Tokens come from regular chests, so the whole strategy is opening as many as you can. Where you land matters more than anything else. A spot with only a handful of chests is likely to be picked clean by other players before you arrive, and they will collect any token drops along with the loot. Areas with a dense cluster of chests give you more attempts per match and less competition for each one.

Equip the Plundarggh Sprite

The Plundarggh Sprite raises your movement speed every time you open a chest. That suits this loop well: the more chests you crack, the faster you move, which cuts the travel time between the next ones. Over a full match, those saved seconds add up to extra chests.

Queue in squad fill

If you don't have friends to play with, squad fill is the better option. When one member of the party gets the access token from a chest, everyone in the party gets it. A full squad can open roughly three times as many chests in a round as a solo player, which triples your chances of a drop without any extra effort on your part.

What to expect once you're in

Even with all three tricks, the token drop is a matter of luck, and there is no guaranteed method. The tricks only increase how many rolls you get per match. Once the Pirate Shop unlocks, you have 14 days to redeem every available reward and cosmetic, so there is no need to rush through it in a single session.

A quick checklist for each match:
