Beyerdynamic Reveals MMX 100 and MMX 130 Wireless Gaming Headsets

Beyerdynamic has announced two new wireless gaming headsets, the closed-back MMX 100 Wireless and the open-back MMX 130 Wireless, with UK pricing set at £89 and £109 respectively. The company says the split is deliberate: the MMX 100 Wireless is aimed at players who want stronger isolation from outside noise, while the MMX 130 Wireless is built for a more open and spacious presentation. Beyerdynamic confirmed the launch details on its official website.

The MMX 100 Wireless arrives first, launching on September 1 in black and Arctic White. Beyerdynamic pairs it with 40 mm drivers and a closed-back design, which the company says is intended to cut down on ambient distractions and keep the focus on the game. That makes it the more traditional option of the two, especially for players who want better isolation during competitive matches or in noisier rooms.

The MMX 130 Wireless takes the opposite route. It uses an open-back design, which allows more airflow behind the drivers and typically creates a wider, more natural soundstage. Beyerdynamic says this model is for players who "prefer a more open and spacious sound." It also adds titanium-coated 40 mm drivers, giving it a slightly different pitch in the lineup beyond the earcup design alone.

Both headsets continue a familiar feature set for the brand's gaming range. Beyerdynamic equips them with a detachable META Voice microphone and support for Bluetooth 6.0, alongside a low-latency USB dongle and cable connection. That gives them compatibility across gaming PCs, consoles including PS5, smartphones, and handheld systems.

The release schedule separates the two models by more than a month. While the MMX 100 Wireless lands at the start of September, the MMX 130 Wireless is scheduled for October 2026, with a specific launch date still to be announced. Beyerdynamic has only confirmed UK pricing so far, and there is no official US availability or regional pricing attached to the announcement.

That leaves the new pair positioned as a straightforward choice between two very different listening styles. Players who want more isolation and less outside interference are getting the earlier release with the MMX 100 Wireless. Players who prefer the airier presentation that open-back headphones are known for will need to wait longer for the MMX 130 Wireless. The pricing gap is also relatively small, which suggests Beyerdynamic is treating the two as parallel options rather than a basic and premium tier.
