gamescom latam 2026 Breaks Records: 154,000 Visitors and $180M in New Business
gamescom latam has wrapped its third edition in São Paulo, and the closing numbers make one thing very clear: Latin America's biggest gaming event is not slowing down. According to the organizers' final report, more than 154,000 visitors came to the Distrito Anhembi between April 29 and May 3, a 17.5 percent jump over last year and the event's best attendance ever. Add over 400 playable games, more than 60 releases, 13,000 business meetings, and an estimated 180 million US dollars in new business, and you have a show that has firmly established itself as the industry's gateway to Latin America.
The numbers behind the record
The headline attendance figure is impressive on its own, but the business side of the report is arguably the bigger story. gamescom latam 2026 hosted 175 exhibitors from 23 countries, more than 700 studios, and 1,100 B2B companies from 59 countries. The event facilitated over 13,000 business meetings, a striking 46 percent increase over the previous year, which the organizers expect to translate into more than 180 million dollars in new business over the coming months.
For context: Brazil is home to more than 1,000 game development studios spread across the entire country, and the organizers are positioning it as the leading games hub of the Global South. Numbers like these back the claim up, and they explain why the event keeps attracting international heavyweights looking for a foothold in the region.
Big names and big games on the show floor
The exhibitor list read like a global industry summit: Nintendo, PlayStation, Blizzard Entertainment, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Riot Games, Roblox, SEGA, Supercell, Remedy Entertainment, The Pokémon Company, and Warner Bros. Games were all present, alongside regional players and non-endemic brands like Banco do Brasil and Fanta connecting with the gaming audience.
Fans got hands-on time with hundreds of titles, including early playable versions of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, Invincible VS, Phantom Blade Zero, and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. On the content side, more than 500 speakers, over 120 of them international guests, including PUBG creator Brendan Greene and composer David Wise, filled 300+ hours of programming, while updates on CONTROL Resonant and the finals of the CONMEBOL eLibertadores rounded out the program. The debut of Versus One, a new competitive circuit focused on fighting games, added another building block for the region's growing esports scene.
Indies remain the heart of the show
gamescom latam grew out of the BIG Festival, and the indie DNA still shows. The 2026 edition of the festival received more than 960 game submissions from 75 countries, with 81 finalists across 18 categories. Brazil alone accounted for 451 submissions, while Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Uruguay placed 28 projects among the finalists.
That mix, huge international publishers next to hundreds of playable indie projects, is exactly what makes the latam edition feel like a genuine gamescom rather than a licensed spin-off.
What it means for the gamescom family
For the wider gamescom brand, the São Paulo result is another data point in a remarkable growth story: the Cologne main event is completely booked out for 2026, gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show returns to Bangkok in late October, and latam just posted its third consecutive record year. The next edition of gamescom latam is set for 2027, and given the trajectory, it would be a surprise if the records stopped here.
