Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 Adds Edgerunners 2 Quest, Dual Wielding and Mod Support

CD Projekt has announced Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.5, a large update timed to the arrival of the Edgerunners 2 anime on Netflix. It launches on October 22 for PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following later. The patch adds an Edgerunners 2 side quest, new items and radio stations, cyberware customization, more Night City side quests, official mod support and dual wielding.
What's in version 2.5
The headline addition is a new quest tied to the anime. "Experience new content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, including a new quest set before the events of the anime," CD Projekt said in its announcement. Alongside it come Edgerunners-themed items and radio stations.
Dual wielding is a new playstyle with its own perks. The announcement pitches it this way: "Go gung-ho with Dual Wielding, a new playstyle that doubles your firepower with dedicated perks."
The same announcement lists several other features:
- Cyberware customization at glamdocs
- Cross Platform Mod Support, for discovering community-made mods
- Night City Tours
- Additional side quests set in Night City
The update's notes are organized into sections for Edgerunners content, Show Off, Mod the World, Upgrading the World, Quality of Life, Technology and Fixes.
Still supported years later
Version 2.5 arrives nearly two years after the game's proclaimed "last big update," so CD Projekt Red is clearly still working on its open-world action game. The previous update shipped last summer, ahead of the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
Official mod support is the most notable change for long-term players. The game has had a large unofficial modding scene on PC, and the cross-platform wording suggests community-made content will be easier to find across systems. CD Projekt has not detailed how that will work in the material announced so far.
The studio also gave current sales figures. Cyberpunk 2077, released in 2020, has sold 40 million copies worldwide according to its developer, and the Phantom Liberty expansion has sold 15 million copies.
For anyone planning to return to Night City, the update lands on October 22 on every platform except Switch 2, which has no firm date yet.
