PlayStation Announces 2026 Black Friday Sale: Up to 75% Off Games, No Hardware Deals Yet

Sony has officially announced its 2026 Black Friday sale on PlayStation Direct, with discounts of up to 75% on games running from midnight on November 4 through November 30. The announcement says nothing about consoles, accessories, or PS Plus, and there is no sign of the PS5 bundle Sony usually releases for the occasion.
A longer sale, but only for software
The timing is the biggest change from last year, when Sony announced discounts limited to the week of Black Friday itself. This year the sale stretches across almost the whole month.
The details are thin. PlayStation's post says only that "you'll find deep discounts up to 75% off, across thousands of PS5, PS4 and PS VR2 games, expansions, and DLC." The announcement also previews a handful of featured titles, including some of 2026's bigger releases, though exact discount levels haven't been shared. Retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon have already started their own early deals, which include older physical PS5 games like God of War Ragnarok and Ghost of Tsushima.
Where the hardware deals went
Last year Sony took $100 off consoles, which effectively cancelled out the PS5 price hike from the month before. It also cut $20 off DualSense controllers and $100 off the PS VR2, and shipped a Fortnite-themed bundle. None of that appears in this year's announcement. That doesn't rule out hardware discounts, but it suggests they will be smaller than last year's, or that Sony hasn't settled on them yet.
One detail leaves room for hope: an asterisk next to some sale dates. The announcement notes that certain discounts end on November 20 and will be replaced by new offers. That is the same date Sony launched its full console deals last year, so a second wave that includes hardware is still possible. Individual retailers could also discount consoles, though a deep cut seems unlikely.
Options if you need a console now
Sony is currently selling refurbished PS5 bundles with DualSense controllers at $40 off. The Digital Edition starts at $518, and the disc-drive model costs $568. Sony is also offering up to $400 to anyone who trades in a PS5 console and controllers.
The heavy focus on refurbished units likely points to ongoing stock problems amid the RAM shortage some have dubbed RAMageddon, though Sony hasn't said so. For anyone hoping to pick up a current-gen console ahead of GTA 6, a refurbished unit may be the most realistic way to save money for now.
If you only want games, the November 4 start gives you the most time Sony has offered for a Black Friday sale. Wishlisting titles on PlayStation Direct before then will make it easier to spot which ones drop, and to check again around November 20 for the replacement offers.
