gamescom asia and Thailand Game Show Join Forces for Southeast Asia's Biggest Event

Big shake-up in the Asian events calendar: gamescom asia is leaving Singapore and merging with Thailand Game Show to create what the organizers are calling Southeast Asia's ultimate gaming stage. The combined event, announced by Koelnmesse and its Thai partners, debuts from October 16 to 19, 2025 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, uniting gamescom's business platform with the region's biggest consumer show under one roof.

Two events, one very big stage

The logic behind the merger is straightforward once you look at the numbers. gamescom asia, launched in Singapore in 2021, has grown into the region's most important B2B and B2C games platform, drawing over 40,000 attendees from 78 countries and 177 exhibitors at its 2024 edition. Thailand Game Show, meanwhile, has been delighting fans since 2006 and attracted more than 185,000 visitors last year.

Put those together and you get a combined event with serious critical mass: a global business and conference platform stacked on top of one of the most passionate consumer audiences in gaming. The new gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show promises an expansive business area, an industry conference, and an entertainment area with AAA titles, indies, esports, cosplay, and live experiences.

Why Bangkok makes sense

Koelnmesse's Asia-Pacific chief Mathias Kuepper called the partnership a game-changer for the region, and Thailand's enthusiasm is hard to miss. Thailand Game Show founder Pongsuk Hiranprueck spoke of a historic collaboration building on 18 years of local event history, while the country's Digital Economy Promotion Agency depa is backing the project as part of a broader push to position Thailand as the leading gaming hub of the region.

Thailand brings more than venue space to the table. It is one of Asia's largest and fastest-growing gaming markets, with a huge player base and strong governmental support for the digital creative industry. For gamescom's brand owners at game, the German Games Industry Association, the merger extends a global strategy that already spans Cologne and São Paulo, as managing director Felix Falk put it, gamescom has become the games industry's biggest global event brand, with its home in Germany and satellites in Asia and South America.

What it means for the gamescom family

For the wider ecosystem, this is the third pillar of gamescom's international expansion falling into place: the Cologne flagship in August, gamescom latam in Brazil in the spring, and now a supersized Southeast Asian edition each October. Show No Limit and Online Station, the companies behind Thailand Game Show, co-organize the Bangkok event alongside Koelnmesse.

The first combined edition runs from October 16 to 19, 2025. If the two events manage to keep their respective strengths, gamescom asia's international business pull and Thailand Game Show's massive fan energy, Southeast Asia is about to get a gaming event unlike anything the region has seen before.
